Apprenticeships
Without trained people right up to a senior level, the world of work would grind to a halt. Apprenticeships provide you with an excellent starting point for a rewarding career in any number of areas. Whatever the size, each employer needs people with the right skills and an Apprenticeship gives you the training and qualifications to succeed.
Apprenticeships are;
- high quality, work based learning for young people who want to develop their prospects and careers
- industry based
- developed in agreement with employers to meet the current and future skills need of each industry.
- enables Apprentices to develop the skills the industry requires as well as achieve a range of nationally recognised qualifications.
What is an Apprenticeship?
There are different levels of Apprenticeship available, all leading to National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), Key Skills qualifications and, in most cases, a technical certificate such as a BTEC. An Apprenticeship will provide hands-on experience, skills and knowledge and the qualifications needed for a chosen career.
Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers in the industry to ensure relevant training and knowledge is integrated. Apprenticeships include the skills for the industry and as an Apprentice you will be able to perform in your job and increase your employability skills.
How do Apprenticeships work?
Learning is flexible to meet the needs of you and your employer. The Apprenticeship framework is achieved through a mix of on and off-the- job training so that you can develop your industry specific skills within the workplace together with planned support, training and development from your Apprenticeship Provider.
Apprenticeship providers include a wide range of different organisations including colleges, local authorities, not for profit group training associations and independent private training companies, all are quality assured and inspected against rigorous standards, receiving funding through the Skills Funding Agency to deliver their approved Apprenticeship frameworks.
Regardless of the type of organisation, all Apprenticeship providers work in partnership with employers to ensure the training and development meets industry requirements.
