CfL celebrates another record year for school engagement
The 2009/10 academic year saw CfL increase its work with schools for the seventh year running.
CfL delivered 319 workshops to over 9,300 pupils, our highest number to date. Although this year we only provided comprehensive coverage in three of the four local authority areas, due to funding availability, it is still an impressive achievement.
The Apprenticeships Information and Advice workshops are well valued across the schools that have worked with us over the last 7 years and this is evident in the responses provided as part of the annual evaluation of this service, with comments including:
"This workshop is really valued by the school and it would be missed if the funding is stopped"
"Increases knowledge of students to make informed choices"
"As the presentation is so good even the most hard to reach students tend to listen"
The intelligence CfL has gathered as part of the Apprenticeship Information and Advice workshops provides vital information on the impact that these workshops have on the young people:
97% of pupils confirmed that the workshop has increased their understanding of Apprenticeships and of those surveyed, 26% are interested in commencing an Apprenticeship when they leave school, compared to 31% who are considering college. Young people were also asked to provide information on the impact that the workshop had on them, comments included:
"I didn't get confused and now I know about what they are"
"Learnt a lot, gives me a good understanding of what an Apprenticeship is"
"Told us the truth and what to expect"
"I cannot wait to leave school and start an Apprenticeship"
